What's On Your Mind?



I found this old song and it I believe it sets the tone for the message. The scripture speaks that there was no room for the savior to be born so he had to be born in the manger. After you listen to the song and view this weeks message, what do you have to say about the "lack of room" for the savior? Let's Talk....

Jeremiah 1:4-17

The word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”  “Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”  But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Wednesday's Word - Daniel 6:15-28




Daniel 6:15-28




15 Then the men went as a group to King Darius and said to him, “Remember, Your Majesty, that according to the law of the Medes and Persians no decree or edict that the king issues can be changed.”

16 So the king gave the order, and they brought Daniel and threw him into the lions’ den. The king said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!”

17 A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. 18 Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.

19 At the first light of dawn, the king got up and hurried to the lions’ den. 20 When he came near the den, he called to Daniel in an anguished voice, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?”

21 Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! 22 My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.”

23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

25 Then King Darius wrote to all the nations and peoples of every language in all the earth:

“May you prosper greatly! 26 “I issue a decree that in every part of my kingdom people must fear and reverence the God of Daniel. “For he is the living God

and he endures forever; his kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end. 27 He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

28 So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.

Daniel 6:6-14


6 So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever! 7 The royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers and governors have all agreed that the king should issue an edict and enforce the decree that anyone who prays to any god or human being during the next thirty days, except to you, Your Majesty, shall be thrown into the lions’ den. 8 Now, Your Majesty, issue the decree and put it in writing so that it cannot be altered—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.” 9 So King Darius put the decree in writing.

10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. 11 Then these men went as a group and found Daniel praying and asking God for help. 12 So they went to the king and spoke to him about his royal decree: “Did you not publish a decree that during the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human being except to you, Your Majesty, would be thrown into the lions’ den?”

The king answered, “The decree stands—in accordance with the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be repealed.”

13 Then they said to the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, Your Majesty, or to the decree you put in writing. He still prays three times a day.” 14 When the king heard this, he was greatly distressed; he was determined to rescue Daniel and made every effort until sundown to save him.

The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss. 3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 4 At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5 Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.”

The Image of Gold and the Fiery Furnace

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual 20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace. 21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace. 22 The king's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, 23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. 24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?"

They replied, "Certainly, O king." 25 He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods." 26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!" So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, 27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.

28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. 29 Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way." 30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

Daniel 1:1-7



1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia [a] and put in the treasure house of his god.

3 Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility- 4 young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians. [b] 5 The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.

6 Among these were some from Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah. 7 The chief official gave them new names: to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.

Who Does God Say You Are - Part 2



Romans 5:8 - “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”.

Romans 6:5 – “If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.”


Hebrews 4:2 – “For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.”

We often try to find our identity in many things...relationships, careers, friendships, etc. When we do that, we often find ourselves confused and hopeless because we cannot keep up with the changing winds. 9-15Or, to put it another way, you are God's house. Using the gift God gave me as a good architect, I designed blueprints; Apollos is putting up the walls. Let each carpenter who comes on the job take care to build on the foundation! Remember, there is only one foundation, the one already laid: Jesus Christ. Take particular care in picking out your building materials. Eventually there is going to be an inspection. If you use cheap or inferior materials, you'll be found out. The inspection will be thorough and rigorous. You won't get by with a thing. If your work passes inspection, fine; if it doesn't, your part of the building will be torn out and started over. But you won't be torn out; you'll survive—but just barely.

What's on your Mind?



We do not realize our words have much power. There was a prophet in the Bible that "SPOKE" and the heavens closed up and there was no rain. This same prophet "SPOKE" again and the rains came. If God allows the words of a mere human to shut up the rains, do we not understand that our words still today can bring healing to a person's life? When you pray, your words are SPOKE to God for him to heal, to save, to help. Speak life to yourself today? Are there some things you are facing that you feel are hopeless? Who do you think Paul is, anyway? Or Apollos, for that matter? Servants, both of us—servants who waited on you as you gradually learned to entrust your lives to our mutual Master. We each carried out our servant assignment. I planted the seed, Apollos watered the plants, but God made you grow. It's not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of this process but God, who makes things grow. Planting and watering are menial servant jobs at minimum wages. I used this song before as the music, but I felt a need to present this song again. As you listen to this song today, I pray that you listen to the words and allow them to speak to your heart. Can you begin to count what things God has done for you? Yes, I know sometimes things go wrong and it gets discouraging. Put I want us to stop and begin to count what good things has been done in your life and if there are anything good, then begin to praise him for what he has done.

I pray today that as you listen you would begin to experience a new walk with God. I pray that any that listen to this song and to the message today, would begin to experience a new walk, a new hope in Christ Jesus.

I'm praying for every person that listen this week, that God would begin to create such a spirit of praise that you would begin to experience a new work in your life. Amen. Share what new thing God is doing in your life. Let's talk....

You're acting like infants in relation to Christ, capable of nothing much more than nursing at the breast. Well, then, I'll nurse you since you don't seem capable of anything more. As long as you grab for what makes you feel good or makes you look important, are you really much different than a babe at the breast, content only when everything's going your way? When one of you says, "I'm on Paul's side," and another says, "I'm for Apollos," aren't you being totally infantile? - 1 Corinthians 3:1-4

Coming Soon!


I pray that each of you had an enjoyable summer. We are now in the first week of August. Many of you are getting ready to transition back to school. I know because my daughter is getting herself ready to go to school for her third year. Some of you are preparing for the first time to go away and are wondering what the experience will be like.

For some of you the excitement is overwhelming and you cannot wait. For others, it is a little scary because you will be leaving family and friends. We want to encourage you. For many of you going away also means leaving your familiar churches and church families. Over the years I have listened to many of your concerns about not being able to find a church near your schools that you felt comfortable attending.

That is where this vision came from. This blog is not meant to replace you attending church, because we hope you do find a church. It is intended to supplement your worship. Each Sunday you will be sent an e-mail with the weekly Sunday message and music. This year we will also be presenting a Wednesday Word. We will go through a study together (I am currently working on that study now).

So get settled in school and we'll see you in September!

I don't know what has become of this young boy in the video. His name is Dan. But as you watch it, whisper a prayer for him and his family as they wait on God's hand in their situation. We have been talking about being thankful and grateful to God. There is also another part of being thankful, and that is to those who have touched our lives. When God works within the heart of his people then lives are touched by God through us. Who do you want to say thank you to for touching your life? Complaining turns an 11 day Trip into 40 years (part 3 of 3)



This lesson today completes the last of the installments. The subtitle for this lesson is, "A spirit of praise brings down walls".  I am including the scripture for you to read for yourself.

Now Jericho was tightly shut up because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have all the people give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the people will go up, every man straight in." – Joshua 6:1-5

Did you know that if you have a grateful heart, you prepare yourself to receive from God the many blessings he has for you? Did you also know that an ungrateful heart turns into an ungrateful life? When that happens you allow that attitude to set up in your heart and it keeps you from being able to receive what God has for your life.

For those that do not know, this is me, Minister Jewel D. Williams. I created C.O.M.E (College Online Ministry and Encouragement) because I was listening to many of the complaints about not being able to find a church to attend while many of you are away at school.

This blog does not attempt to replace the fellowship or growing that takes place in the church environment. It is only a supplement for you until you can find a church home and then afterwards, just a help in your growth process.

This year, the Lord has been speaking to me about being grateful. That will be the theme throughout many of the messages you see for the remainder of your school year. I pray that each of you receives the message in this lesson and applies it to your daily living. Returning in February!

Happy New Year!


I pray that all of you had a wonderful time at home with family and friends. Some have gone back and some are still making their way back to school. I pray for all of you to have a safe journey back to school.


Our regular Sunday messages will resume in February. You will all have had the opportunity to get back into the swing of school and your regular routines. In February we will feature several speakers. I will present a message, along with Minister James Williams. We also hope to present some younger faces to you this month.
